Rosamond Spencer Bechtel, Roz, was born in Montreal, but grew up in Halifax, surrounded by an ocean that would cast a spell on her all her life. While living and playing on the coast was very much a part of life there, it was not until the family moved back to Upper Canada that Roz realized how much Maritime life was part of her being.
